Yes, this kind of concept has been written about plenty of times, but it's been a long time since I was as truly unsettled by the darkness lurking in such a picture-perfect world as I was while reading GREENWICH PARK. But they all cancel at the last minute leaving poor Helen alone. While I found the ending satisfying I was a bit put off that the last bit was basically just Selena summing up what happened as she thought she was going to get away with it. Jess, as Carol mentioned, I too thoroughly disliked Serena throughout the book, but hadn't guessed the direction of the denouement until quite late in the book. I love a good Peyton Place-type neighborhood hiding a multitude of secrets, and Katherine Faulkner's Greenwich Park is an instant too-perfect classic. Since I was listening on audio, it was easy to just keep going. I hover on the edge of a group, trying to look casual, waiting to be included.

I had to read the ending twice because it seemed like two people were revealing "what really happened", but they claimed things happened differently. Rachel is my favorite character, mostly because she is so clearly dodgy from the beginning that it makes her hugely interesting. While the bulk of the story develops from Helen's first-person point of view, the author frequently uses first-person perspectives from other primary characters. Helen, the one we should have felt for was a strange one, obviously obsessed with Serena and going through her things. If you've been around Crime by the Book for a little while, you'll already know what a picky reader I am when it comes to the domestic suspense genre. Maybe someone else will have an opinion. I felt maybe slightly sorry for Helen at times but she also annoyed me with her niavity and clinginess.

The deeper readers venture into this story alongside Helen, the less they will know who they can trust. Helen is feeling very much abandoned by all her busy friends and this new injection of life into her otherwise boring world might be just the distraction she needs. Greenwich Park is her first novel. She was was practically gaslit at times by another character, but she also had the worst memory ever and let a harmful situation (Rachel) into her house and then just forgot how bad everything was? I chose to read a free ARC of Greenwich Park but that has in no way influenced my review. Set in the desirable and posh neighborhood of Greenwich Park, this domestic thriller delves into the (very dark, very sinister) secrets that people whose lives we all could so easily envy are keeping.
Dark and twisty and had me engaged the entire time. I did think that Daniel's involvement was was inevitable but had not really considered Selena until the business about the drugs came up. Dear Helen, I know you asked me not to write to you again.
Helen is a very weak woman who seems to have little agency over her life, things seem to happy to her and she wilfully ignores the huge, massive, red flags that something very bad is happening. All attended college together and they became a natural, and expected, foursome. I Knew Rachel had to have been the girl who was raped 10 years prior, that much was obvious but I honestly thought both Daniel & Rory were the rapists and that was why she got into Helen's life, at least to get in with the foursome. How can those traits in turn make him less suited to provide care and understanding? But none return my gaze, so I am forced to reply.
Who just wants to get know Helen and her friends and her family. Katherine Faulkner has written a book that is both riveting and tense, a proper page-turner that really is an addictive read. I couldn't track his age but wondered if he might be a love interest for Katie. Katherine is a London-based author and journalist. I rate it a must-read for any psychological thriller fan who craves a story with many unexpected twists. But you need to know the truth, even if after all this time your hands are still clamped over your ears. Maybe Rachel just needs a friend.
No, but that for me is testament to Katherine's writing, because the brilliant plot and my absolute need to know what has happened, and why Rachel came into their lives makes this novel one that is impossible to put down. And* sending a copy to Serena. She is also a wonderfully descriptive writer, and she successfully leverages this ability to infuse her novel with short descriptive passages that punch well above their weight.
