By making the c-section Nora's focus of study in medical school we were able to straddle the diverse worlds of men and women in Victorian times. It was so fascinating because medicine was totally crazy at this time. She has Horace's curiousity, but she has the capacity to understand people's feelings, which he lacks. "With its strong woman protagonist and authentic period detail, this is the best kind of historical fiction, transporting readers to a place and time peopled with memorable characters. Regina: I wish I could meet Harriet Tubman. In the sequel you get a closer look at some of these women– Italian anatomist and lecturers who worked in a world usually forbidden to women.
