It's a long story, you gotta take your time to get involved with all these characters, see the relationships develop and grow, you get ALLLL THE LITTLE MOMENTS that would make you GUSH AND SWOON. We've read Lucy Score before and fallen in love with her words, but this is our favourite by this Author, and we cannot wait for Nash and Lucien's books now! THINGS WE NEVER GOT OVER (Knockemout #1) by LUCY SCORE. Fans of Colleen Hoover will devour Lucy Score's novel Things We Never Got Over. So, this book is about the enigmatic Knox and the incoming fleeing bride Naomi. I cannot wait for this series to continue. I just loved the banter between Knox and Naomi so much. As soon as she gets what she's after, she has no intention of sticking around.
This is the first book I've read by Lucy Score, but if her other books are even half as entertaining as this one, I'll be reading more. This story does end with a HEA for the couple, and Knox did make an effort to change towards the end, but it was a little too late for me. Colleen is one in a million! Of course, Knox was my favorite character, but I don't think anyone can blame me for that. It's really freaking long! I could not get enough of them. This book is a grumpy/sunshine small town romance with great characters and interesting side characters who will probably get their own stories one day! Title: Things We Never Got Over. And inserting himself right into the middle of pretty much everything, is take-charge, protective alpha, Knox.
Thank you, Knox, for all of the shouting and the rides and the coffee. Watching Waylay feel safe and loved for the first time in her life was really emotional. And the dual POV makes it even more interesting as you get to hear both sides of the story. Smalltown romances are one of our favourites, add a grumpy hero whose actions speak louder than his words, intense chemistry with an adorable strong, and funny heroine as well as a bit of suspense and humour and well… we're in reading heaven. We have our main protagonists, Naomi and Knox, who are perfection, but there are also Waylay and Liza J, and all the girls at Honky Tonk, and our lovely librarian and so many others. I expected Knox to be an alpha grouch, but I didn't expect him to make me swoon so hard. Sometimes it's just nice to have the physical version in your collection; especially when it has such a beautiful cover. I'd gladly live in the fictional small town of Knockemout, Virginia. "You can't use cash as a replacement for actually showing up for someone. " I promised no spoilers so I'm not going to tell you where the fake dating starts, only that it's a slow burn. All the characters were likable and well-rounded, the dialogue was witty and funny, the plot was engaging, the suspense didn't feel contrived or too cheesy, and the romance was *chefs kiss*.
Her favourite genre is small-town modern rom-coms, and she loves to provide the feels with a big helping of happily ever after. They were victims and survivors, and I admired their strength, perseverance, and positive attitude. When he learns the truth though, he is swept up in helping Naomi out, and as much as he plans to keep his distance, their lives get more and more entwined, and he ends up getting way more involved than he ever anticipated. The writing is so entertaining that it'll have you breezing through the pages. You will be left craving for more because Lucy has done a great job at leaving cliffhangers about two future love stories! This is only my second Lucy Score book but both have been 5 stars. Knox is one of those grumpy alphas who thinks he's got it all figured out on how to take care of people when he has it all backwards. Getting them to their happily ever after wasn't easy and there were times I wanted to yell at them both, but as every layer was peeled back and all of Knox's secrets were learned, it was totally worth it. Now that the bad news is out of the way, here's. What more could a girl want? Knox, Nash, and Lucien.
