I felt the story was very well written and kept me guessing until the very end as to who the real murderer was. All in all, I ultimately did enjoy this beginning to a new to me mystery series. The sea was not very unpropitious, the wind seemed stationary in the north-east, the sails were hoisted, and the Henrietta ploughed across the waves like a real trans-Atlantic steamer. Cora stood by her friend through dark days in the past; now she must do so again. I admit at first I wasn't enamored with Jane but when Ms. Bryan lets us see inside Jane's head a certain points in the book, I enjoyed her much better because I was seeing her point of view, I found that a refreshing change. All in all, Death Among the Doilies is a clever and charming mystery with a couple of unexpected turns. But as new clues are uncovered, and the body of Paul's best friend, Henry turns up at a local abandoned Wizard of Oz amusement park, Cora and Jane worry that they may be harboring a dangerous criminal. In my honest opinion the romance was too much (Cora, who does not want men around with all she has seen, and Jane likewise, seem to fling themselves on every available man somehow). Iron Chef star Cat Cora is pictured looking cozy with wife Nicole Ehrlich after divorce filing. It can work as background music in a haul, atmospheric enhancement in a vlog, or just add those cozy vibes to a cooking video. 4-wheel drive may be needed.
