The book is the first in a series, but it's not a cliffhanger ending so you don't need to wait! Review: THE THOUSAND DEATHS OF ARDOR BENN by Tyler Whitesides –. In my opinion, a couple of small tweaks would greatly benefit the book namely a shorter page-length and tighter plotting on the part of Whitesides as ultimately, The Thousand Deaths of Ardor Benn felt overly long for the story that Whitesides was telling and suffers under the weight of its 700+ page count. Together, they have the charm, the brains, and the light fingers, all of which will be needed if they are to pull off the heist of the century – stealing the king's ceremonial dragonscale armour (and thereby saving the world, of course). Part alchemy, part maths and part pure dumb luck Ard and Raek use grit in a whole host of inventive ways to help pull off various heists.
I love it when the author is the narrator, and here Tyler did such a great job with the voice acting and storytelling. Ardor Benn and his cohorts may be experts in the art of the ruse, but nobody's that good. Sometimes they are not really perfectly planned out, sometimes they are in the least minutia, but usually, they are just short of amazing.
I laughed my way through this book. Sure there is some violence, as to be expected from a book like this, but it steers clear of the darker stuff and is a much-needed breath of fresh air especially for 2020.
