People of all ages go there. Once again Homestead is spoilt for choice. Very little fresh water taps available and possibly long grass to deal with. 3Uwais K. 2 months agoIt's a nice dam but it has alot of floating plants which prevents you from fishing. And that electronics in weather like that is so important. On September 15, residents around the popular recreational dam, where fishermen can often be seen enjoying the sound of the water lapping against the banks, noticed numerous dead carp floating on the surface, fuelling speculation that the dam may have suffered severe contamination. Saturday started off extremely slow and seemed to set the pace for the rest of the day with at times a fish only coming onto the boat once every hour or so. Spent a Sunday afternoon there recently with a couple of local and international friends and everyone felt truly refreshed. Take with any old bread and go feed some duckies!

3Laurelle W. 3 years agoEven though it has been renovated really nicely, it not so enjoyable for a walk with the fur kids anymore. Too many drunk get-togethers from visitors and they leave a mess, which blows that rubbish into our gardens. If not I am sure she gets a State paid cell phone. Joging running walking. It's generally clean and relatively safe as there are many joggers and cyclists who exercise and families who walk next to the dam. Canoing, running, playgrounds, big wide open areas. I then tied a thicker 15 lb leader about twice the length of the rod to the end of this. Getting the bigger fish to take a lure can be tricky during these times, as the water happens to be a buffet of natural food for the predating bass. It is a great dam for fishing, relaxing and to braai. It is better to visit the dam on the weekends rather than on a public holiday.
