I lowered the muzzle about 5 degrees and placed a plastic bag lined waste paper basket under the muzzle to catch drippings. I don't recommend using a drill on rifles. Once most of the fouling is gone, then use a chemical to dissolve the remaining traces of fouling. Now I'm not one to let a rifle barrel stay dirty. My favorite is Bore Tech Eliminator.
To whom it may concern, I have a lee enfield no1 mk 3 made in 1917, that I. acquired approximately 40 plus years ago, it was stored in a unheated coal. IT CLEANS EVERYTHING I HAVE USED IT ON. And I must admit I think your product could clean it to original. Maybe what I thought was copper is really rust. Run a dry patch through to finish. It will be interesting to see how far it will go.
