We Came As Romans' initial ascent was quick and assured, catapulting the band (who met as teens) into the hearts of diehard fans immersed in the metalcore, post-hardcore, and Warped Tour subculture. Only leaning back into his usual, more aggressive style where it serves the song best.
It's worth a listen if you are a fan or if you are really into the genre, but otherwise it isn't something memorable. Jesse Cash who also plays guitars and lands the cleans while J. T. One More Day 4:28 7. It's been five long years since Michigan based metalcore masters WE CAME AS ROMANS ' last studio album, Cold Like War (2017). Overall it was certainly an enjoyable album, but for me this is an album i'd rather listen to the individual tracks than revisit the album in full, and i look forward to seeing how the band continue from here. Recording Darkbloom, the band's first full length release since Pavone's unfortunate passing, was clearly a cathartic experience too. The band dial it up for the chorus as expected with backing-vocals accentuating the emotive elements, as the rest of the band pack a punch with immense production on bass and drums. Watch the video for "Darkbloom" toward the bottom of the page and read the lyrics directly below. The slowdown on the chorus gives it a bit more emotional weight, and Stephens' vocals, both harsh and clean, are exactly right for this track. Releasing through SharpTone Records, the rendition simultaneously retains the emotional impact and fortitude that is present in the original single, while confidently adding yet another layer of intensity not yet seen in We Came as Romans material. All of which stand easily alongside their best efforts and will no doubt become fan favourites in the years to come. There were fans of the ERRA close to the front (I could actually read the shirt, they are slacking! ) Fun fact: Lead singer David Stephens attended culinary school and if the band hadn't worked out, he was set to be a chef. Summary: We Came As Romans are still on fine form six albums in are able to continually expand their sound while staying true to their metalcore roots. A fact that's obviously apparent from tracks like the aforementioned Daggers, Anchor and Doublespeak.
