With the right captain and right bait, fishing in Bradenton Beach offshore can be a lot more like catching than fishing. Dolphins also frequent these coastal shores. Tarpon invade Anna Maria Island by the 10's of thousands during the months of May, June, and July. Fishing from the beach or jettys at night can be very productive as several gamefish become very active at night like the snook, tarpon, and redfish. There are three piers to fish off of on Anna Maria Island including the Rod and Reel pier, Anna Maria City Pier and the Bradenton Beach City Pier. Bring plenty of water and stay hydrated and don't forget the sunscreen. There are designated areas for parks and public beaches in each village of the island. Anna Maria Island offers year round fishing with many different open seasons available. We can still catch some Tarpon during the month of August but prepare to work for them and wait in between hook ups. I use a cast net to catch them while walking the shore during the day. Whether you prefer to fish from a pier, backyard dock or out in the open water, there is something for every type of Florida fisherman. Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011. The Snapper can be found near navigation markers and shallow grass flats in Sarasota Bay and in Tampa Bay near deeper structure. Well, shiners are in the grass and we caught our first kingfish of the season yesterday. If you are looking to go a Tarpon fishing charter in July there is still fish to be had most of the time. We found a total of 98 potential fishing spots nearby Anna Maria. Anna Maria is not spoiled by large hotels or high-rise condos, and you and the girls can explore the island by bike and then eat freshly caught seafood off the fishing pier. With 1300 miles of coastline, 7, 700 lakes, 10, 550 miles of rivers, and 2, 276 miles of tidal coastline, Florida is a natural choice for avid anglers. As the fish got closer we could see the glowing eyes that we were looking for... a nice snook! This mullet season was better than the 2015 season, but still was slower than average. Sure, the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay are divine spots for reeling in some catch, but you can also find a lot of smaller bodies of water around AMI that offer a diverse ecosystem filled with various types of fish.
