Located only 20 minutes from St. George, UT, Sand Hollow State Park offers a wide range of activities to entertain your summer day. My kids love skimboarding at the ocean during low tide, but did you know you can skimboard in a land-locked desert state without a beach?? The Kanarra Creek trailhead is located just outside town and while the first mile or so can be very hot, the temperatures drop considerable once you are in the slot canyon. Located next door to the museum is a splash pad and carousel that can also be fun for the children before you head back home. Paragon Adventures-. Sand Hollow can get very busy on holiday weekends so if you are planning on visiting during a holiday weekend make sure to arrive very early (before 9 am) to get a good spot to play for the day. If people are gassed on a Sunday before a long drive back to California, this makes for a great final adventure on your way home. Be sure to reapply as soon as the time length is out (good for your skin too! This cove is a good place for jumping, but it is also a location for scuba diving. All sites have a fire ring and picnic table. The scenery at the river is beautiful, particularly during golden hour when the sun begins to set and paints the sky a hazy pink. Located right near the water's edge within Sand Hollow State Park and south of Westside Campground, Sand Pit Campground provides a welcomed respite after a day of fun in the sun. If you're looking for a place to cool off in Moab, skip the muddy Colorado River and head to the Mill Creek North Fork Trailhead just southeast of town. More info on that here. Past the gate, a short half-mile walk will get you to the pools, and a path connects all three once you hit the first one. Avoid weekends if you can, or arrive early on a weekday morning if you're hoping to have a pool to yourself. If swimming in Great Salt Lake does not appeal, it's still worth heading to the beach to watch the sunset over the lake: the colors reflecting off the still, endless waters of the lake are fantastic to photograph.
