You've been sitting on this for too long! I tried all the tricks, ratchet strap, take out valve core bead blaster...... The sidewall of most motorcycle tires is much stiffer than the automotive tires that a bead seater blow device would be effective on, and the volume of air in most cycle tires is not significant enough to "blow up" with the seating device. Put PURE soap, or oil, on the stubborn spot.
Spray windex on the bead and Ellen kicks ass - if she had a beard it would be much more haggard. I'm just thinking that the tires are at the maximum for size margin of error (too small) and the wheels might be as well. I will say a backhoe stabilizer makes a great tool bead breaker. With the sealant in, after a day or two, if when deflated the tyre unseats or does so at slight Provocation, it can burp in service. Or a set of 18x10-8 Tamers on 8x8 Champion beadlocks. 00-6) and cannot get them to seat on the beads and inflate. Using an air compressor is the next best method of seating tubeless tires if a floor pump won't work. I am using plenty of lube. Here's a quick guide on how to successfully mount low profile tires. The GP5000TL has that extra little flap of rubber which I think both helps one inflate them with a track pump but maybe also makes them harder to stay in the channel after they deflate. I had a Maxxis that had a damaged kevlar bead. If you're still having trouble, you can try using a tirespoon or another tool to help push the bead into place. Once installed they inflated pretty easily with a track pump.
There are a few things you can do to try to fix this. I'm thinking these tires are just not going to work well with the bike. I don't want to drop a load of cash on a Cheetah but am considering similar ones on eBay that run around $50. You may need to use a little soap and water around the circumference of the bead to help it slide on easier. The scary part is the previous owner never noticed and had made several 170mph passes on them. Perhaps a larger diameter hose would allow more air through at once, increasing the PSI at the tool? Then onto the rear for the ultra, man is this thing killing me! By lubricating the "Drop Center" of the wheel before you install the tire, it creates a better seal to catch the air. Mount the second bead, pump up the tire, done. Cleaned the parts off the shelves 20 feet behind me.
I have had them inflated pretty high for the last two days... In all my years of seating tires on bead i have never once seen a tire explode. This was the only way I could get it done because they basically need a lot of air fast to pop the bead. Last edited by LQQK_OUT; 05-22-2017 at 08:12 PM. Bought tires for both bikes last fall for a good deal, elites for the softy and 402s f9r the ultra. I know people have used this method with success but in my mind it's just screaming for a visit to the ER.
The BMW spoke wheels are made for tubeless tires by lacing the wheel to the outside edge of the rim. Obviously cracks and wear are a factor. Both tires spin 'wobble' and give that appearance that the wheel is bent (which is not the case). Finally, if all else fails, you can try heating up the tire with a hair dryer or heat gun. Tod break them back down and use WD40 or some slimy soapy water about 50/50 mix on soap and should seat.... i used a dish rag sopping for this and they popped right tap the rubber with a dead blow hammer as it is filling.... # 9.
1 little section seems to be ok but the majority of it is a solid 1/2 to 3/4 inch off. Make sure that the rim of your wheel is clean and free of any debris before trying to seat the bead. How would you go about filling tubeless tires up, if both beads arent seated? IS it ok to leave it like that? There are many options out on the market that allow you to connect a standard floor pump and inflate a cannister to a high pressure. The CLX's are good up to 130psi, and, if I'm being honest, my pump is not exactly accurate... 120 is more like 110. I use Murphy's bead setter/sealer.
Grrr, this thing is starting to irritate me! If you don't have access to a tire machine, there are some things you can do to make it easier.
