This book adds a great story to the ballet genre! Maybe even the adult I am. Even though her quest to go after the thing that made her spirit sing made her incredibly nervous and scared, it was so endearing and inspiring. I liked where Eli and Chloe left things and I thought their relationships was just adorable by the end. I've always found road trip books hit-or-miss, but I Wanna Be Where You Are definitely pulls it off. So they have to sleep in the same bed (and the heroine is a little nervous about it), but nothing remotely sexual occurs. No matter how tricky the choreography, always dance towards your dreams. It was also great to see a Black love interest and this was probably my first ever rom-com featuring one. Chloe and Eli's slow burn, enemies-to-lovers romance is cute as hell, and is more a tale of miscommunication and an unwillingness to accept fault and apologize. He was sorta cocky and annoying but in a fun way. I loved Kristina Forest's debut I Wanna Be Where You Are, and I expect such amazing things from her in the future. Forest handles their development with a deft hand and the way she writes Eli is really wonderful. While some novels I've come across make it point to overly describe this, Forest uses actions, phrases, setting and the characters themselves to immerse POC representation. Chloe Pierce and Eli Green are your typical coming-of-age characters. If you haven't yet, I'd highly recommend picking this up!
