This is something that university presidents and boards of trustees, especially at public universities, really need to look at closely and ask themselves, what kind of environment are they fostering here? One place that has potential is in the courts. He noted that segregation had its roots in slavery, and that white attitudes toward black Americans had hardened over the centuries.
