Pearls and Poison by Duffy Brown was fun reading from beginning to end. PEARLS AND POISON is a hoot & a half! I don't know how Reagan manages to get into all the trouble she does, although I know Aunt Kiki helps. There is a wedding planner running interference and a couple of casualties and Evie discovers both.

The political plot worked really well except I wouldn't ever expect a judge to want to be an alderperson, but maybe that is the way things work in Georgia. But the already dirty campaign is about to get downright filthy—with one candidate getting buried six feet under…. It also included a really great mystery. Brown needs to strike a good balance between the two sides of the book in each novel in the series and the balance was slightly off in this one. With the help of her Auntie, Mamma, and a host of other town friends, the women find themselves getting deeper and deeper into trouble and danger. In spite of the past, she knows he isn't a murderer. The tale is entertaining with fun scenes of Evie following through on clues. Duffy Brown does an amazing job with Reagan Summerfield, Kiki, her aunt, BW her doggy, Boone Walker, the hot attorney and possible love interest ( I hope) for Reagan, Chantilly, Reagan's best friend, and all the other colorful Savannah. With her trusty --sort of--canine friend, Bruce Willis, and her cheap but huge "Big Yellow" purse, Reagan manages to find clues and even stay alive while solving this campaign conundrum! Why did you decide to write mysteries? I just love to laugh and want to share it with the readers. This time Reagan is trying to help her mother after the murder of a man in the same race for alderman as Reagan's mother. The dialogue is what makes this novel sing.
