Lime Crime's Crown & Phoenix does not have a corresponding dupe in UCANBE's palette which leaves UCANBE's Black Magic & Bewitchment to not have a color dupe in Lime Crime's palette. Why didn't anyone think of this before? For more neutral everyday looks, I don't find this step necessary though. It's a true counterpart of the pigment by Inglot #85. I'm using a new platform, and still figuring it out. All the shades swatch intensely in a finger swatch against my fair skin, but also with a brush I had no issue picking any of these up. Forgive me if the photos are not their normal quality. MARSH: An olive green shade with a hint of gold, this earthy, playful color is one I can see myself wearing from day to night. It's purple and black based with a bunch of blue and lilac shimmer. The formula is buttery an has a lot of kick back but I didn't find it to have much fallout which was a pleasant surprise. The mattes are pigmented and blendable, overall a very well-performing and easy to use palette. West - Warm brown metallic. This palette is a stunning one that is great if you have fair skin and like to create whimsical, fairytale like looks. If you've been wanting Lime Crime Venus XL but didn't want to shell out the $58 you can get basically the exact same shades. It's a nicely pigmented matte shade that look sumptuous if worn with the Mustard together. What also stands out is the fact that this is a predominantly cool to neutral palette. The intense shimmer on the lid is a combination of Myth and Ivy and I used Laurel, a subtle gold with a green undertone, on my lower lash line.
Usually when I buy a palette, there are a few shades I already own. Let's take a look, shall we? I've been ordering in their crazy cool shades of Velvetines lipsticks well before they hit the UAE market (click here for a recap), and I did a complete review with swatches on the original Lime Crime Venus palette here before. To create the look I put Sage in the crease which on me is a perfect shade for doing just that. I used the Too Faced Born This Way concealer without powder as an eye primer and feel that the colors definitely perform better over that than on their own for the best color payoff. The colors are so unconventionally different. It does have an interesting combination of colors, perhaps colors I would not typically put together. If like me, you are fair skinned with a cool to neutral undertone, I think you may love this as much as I do. The shimmers range in intensity and density while the mattes are all smooth and buttery. It's nice for everyday looks as well as more intense looks and can see myself reaching for it for nights out pretty often. After trying their original Venus XL and Immortalis palettes, I soon set my sights on the Venus XL 2. Order by 9pm (excludes Public holidays). While I do think this palette is worth the full price, I would still recommend waiting for a sale as there is no way you have to pay this or get this pronto. Last but not least, a rosy look and we all know how I feel about pinks and rosy tones: I think they are very flattering on me. For instance, West looks like a copper in the pan but has a pink undertone that makes it go well with the rosy tones in the palette. Sage - Sage green matte. Not so in this case. All of the shades are nice to work with. A little chalkier than the rest, but the color is easily buildable and looks like an extension of the original Venus palette. Obscure - Soft neon green sheer iridescent. Skin Sensitive, Fair-Medium, Warm. Works wonderfully well as a crease shade, and can even be worn on its own for an earhty take on the smokey eye. It is recommended to build up and foil the shimmers to make sure they reach full intensity on the lid.
