The St. Mark's Quilters meet on Thursday mornings to plan patterns, cut fabric and quilt, as well as to enjoy conversation while they work. Book Bag Buddies Ministry. The Women's Division shall be actively engage in fulfilling the mission of Christ and the Church and shall interpret the purpose of United Methodist Women. Programs focus on missional needs of the church and community as well as information about activities and programs that address needs of individuals. The changes are designed to address the different needs and life stages of current members and new women and expand options for membership and engagement. Not only do we have the opportunity to raise funds to support mission teams across the world and local groups like the Chelsea Retirement Community Benevolent Fund, the Baldwin Center, the Methodist Children's home and West Side's members on short term mission, but we are also able to have great fun doing it! Every year, UMW members continue the United Community Center mission by creating Christmas Gift bags to be distributed by United Community Centers to their clients who are senior citizens. The UMW sponsors retreats for women, prepares meals and gives support to church families in times of illness or bereavement, sponsors a prayer chain for needs within the church, and honors church members with mission pins signifying a donation toward missions in the honoree's name. The Link, the newsletter published by the VA Conference UMW, reports that the districts in the VA Conference UMW contributed a grand total of $959, 014. Mothers of tween and teen children.
