In my defense, I did say that the Ford engine color was "Ford Red" and included a link to Macs engine paint, so hopefully it didn't create too much of a problem for his decision on the 57 T-Bird. But if you know anything about Model A Fords, Kewanee Green is as common as sky blue. Top restorers have generally looked to PPG DAR 13358 as the standard of what Corporate Blue was intended to be by Ford. I do it to my manifold. The Ford engine color for 1957 was indeed a red/orange color (the official name was Ford engine red). However other engines I've seen in original vehicles have been painted matt khaki as is the rest of the vehicle.

It is painted the correct color for 1957. Black (Engine): Valve Covers, Air Cleaner. It was a darker color green. Top judges know what to look for, but you might not. On the second factory pic you can easily see that the motor isn't body colour but it doesn't look black. Most of the originals we have seen have been the softer gold shade. On all the 1960 to 1962 Falcon Cars, Ranchero's, Sedan Delivery's and the new models of smaller size Fairlane's in 1961 & 1962 their engine compartment's were painted the same as the exterior body color the exception was for the Black Cars these got sprayed or resprayed in Semi Gloss Black, Duplicolor's DE 1635 or Krylon 1613 is a good match for the Original.
