All of the hotels I stayed at were superb. There was no train in the Candian Rockies by train. All the other traveling companions were very friendly & courteous with none ever being late for our departure. My husband was not a fan of the 10 hour bus trip in lieu of train, but had a good experience over all. He was unbelievably knowledgeable, friendly - and funny. So if you're a Boomer, you'll be in good company. Julie our "leader" was available at all times and was so knowledgeable about the Rockies and was cheerful throughout. There was no train portion. From the pickup at home to start the trip until we were returned to home, every thing was exceptional service. Always present, always relevant. All was great - a little rushed and not enough time in some of the locations. I really liked the Calgary Stampede. The scenery was amazing, the most beautiful... ". The food and service was first class. You could have emailed us earlier that the train portion of "Canadian Rockies By Rail would be eliminated and given us the opportunity to withdraw from the trip without penalty. What a wonderful experience!
The favorite experience was the overnight train ride from Vancouver to Jasper and walking on the glaciers. Our tour guide Karina was very knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. Columbia Icefields walk on Glacier was spectacular along with Fairmont hotel stays at Lake Louise and Banff. Beautiful mts and the ice field. Please be advised many airlines do not provide advance seat assignments until check-in at the airport. As world travelers my wife and I have been on countless tours, and I traveled extensively during my career with the federal Civil service---all over the world. The mountains and lakes were stunning.
Collette's choice of hotels, restaurants and the pacing of each day was perfect. The tour was supposed to include a train ride. I was never told that there was a golf cart available I could barely breathe when I finally reached my car. They were in personal contact with me until my seat was confirmed. All the places we went were great. Our tour guide Catherine Martin was the best! Rockies were fantastic, accommodation was great. The walking on the Icefield Glacier and bus ride in the ice explorer was not as satisfactory. Then when we arrived at the banff restaurant we had a special tour menu and not the restaurant menu. The keyword's results do not contain the selected date. Your advertising should have a bus on it not a train. In addition, the tour bus driver was fantastic. Just not at all what we expected. This is my third trip with Collette but this was the best. The Athabasca river water rafting in the heart of Canada's Jasper National Park was quite fun. A well organized and managed trip.
We will look around more before we use Collette again. The wake up call was 45 minutes late, room numbers on the hotel room and phone didn't match ( a disaster in case of an emergency) and the shower didn't work properly.
