They say that five is the golden age of childhood – life is fun, full of adventure, giggles and glee and gloriously uncomplicated. I pray that the memories you keep and hold onto into adulthood are ones of joy, happiness, bright & lovely moments of feeling so confidently — like the unbridled assurance that your next breath will come, that you are loved.
Be good at school and have fun. Keep your kindness unmatched. I will not prevent mean girls from attempting their mind games on you. You mean everything to me, and you have filled my life with so much love and joy.
Even though your directness terrifies me at times, I know it will serve you well in life (if you let it). At the same time, you have learned to throw the most diva like tantrum when you don't get your own way, going from whining to hysterical in a split second. People who are mean are hurt. So, instead of trying, I'll let your tears fall like the rain and your laughter ring out like the bells at Christmas. Five seems very grown up all of a sudden, no longer a baby, a toddler, or the pre-schooler you were last year.

Age is just a number. It was hard for me too, to be away from you each day after four wonderful years together, to fight against all of my maternal instincts and prise your little hand from mine and leave you there each morning. I hope your celebration gives you many happy memories!
