Yes, I function check my G17 every time I reassemble after cleaning. The standard slide stop will probably fix your problem if you don't have the problem with your other glocks that have a standard slide stop. The Glock has a slightly tighter chamber and would do what you describe, stopping just short of battery and I had to pry the slide back to clear the round. You don't know what you don't know. Before the slide hung up every 2-3 rounds. Glock won't go into battery. Not sure when I can get to the range again to test with live ammo, but I will bring some factory stuff to try. People that reload heavier bullets do so to get to minimum power factor for competition but factory ammo is loaded to full power so it recoils more. You practice this to get your finger to remember exactly how much it needs to release the trigger to just get the reset without letting the trigger go all the way back out to save time between follow up shots. A simple test to prove that your thumb is hitting the slide stop is to REMOVE the slide stop and shoot a couple magazines. However, when I switch to my common use ammo 115GR Sellier and Bellot - it is ALL GOOD.
