We can't be happier that our friends at Southern Sky Brewery is finally putting their products out at beer festivals and even more exciting was we got to FINALLY try the Schwarzchild Porter. Kodi has been learning some behavior basics at puppy class so we decided a few class trips were in order. Along one hallway, there's a realistic-looking street design showing a pub in Bruges, Belgium where New Belgium co-founder Jeff Lebesch took a biking trip that inspired him to open the company with his then-wife Kim Jordan. More of a beer theme park for adults, I guess. It's pretty sublime. Our BrewCrew peeps Dan and Terri joined the event and we spent a few hours before our shift checking out all sorts of porters, stouts, pilsners, Weiss, some sours and even some refreshing peach meade.
The brewery is just off the square in Marietta and has a nice selection of beer. It was three days from the last day of school, so everyone was ready to relax and share plans for the summer — and this was our 4th retirement celebration on the deck, so everyone knew it would be fun. They are having their big opening January 23rd, you know we'll be there! Hard to pick a favorite here.
We figure it is good practice for the anticipated beer samplings we will encounter on our summer and fall trips around the country. Despite all that we managed to have some fun with our friends in the area.
