I think with the Smith rubber boot grip my hand position is shifted so the gun kind of rolls back in the hand and this makes for less felt recoil. It remains my opinion that for a "carry gun", the wisest choice remains grips that offer comfort, adequate control in firing, and concealability. I own a 640PC that shipped with the same grips.
