Update... it was the cts.... i dont think reading the computer would have worked, b/c the bulb was unplugged from the check engine light. Timing set at 4*BTDC. People say that the pumps are prone to failure, and they are, but in my experience 95% of the failures are that they just stop working completely.

" Is it spraying to much or is the fuel leaking out sonewhere? Tbi spraying too much fuel prices. I thought maybe it was the fuel press regulator built in the throttle why i tried the other one i didnt i know the one i had was a good one.... i heard it could be a "coolant temp sensor".. the heck does that do?.. So basically if your fuel pressure is dropping below the regulator set point your pump or filter is failing. Any details on how you modified to add an external adjustable regulator? I can get the BLM to increase but only when accelerating. Use the wire grounds that are supposed to be connected to body ground. I've done one in my life (not on a tbi, but they're all kinda the same) and it wasn't toooo bad, just real fiddly. Thursday, April 19th, 2007 AT 2:42 PM. That's hard to believe because as soon as a valve opened the cylinder would fill with liquid then it would hydrolock, bending rods and breaking the crank. We may be getting somewhere. If your fuel pump relay had a short in it I would expect the ECM fuse to have blown, not the ECM to have failed operation. The listed pressures sound like a failing pump to me.
I modified the internal regulator in my TBI unit, and ran an external adjustable regulator. I'm not saying its impossible, but not common. I was wondering if you picked those 2 componants randomly, or is there a specific reason? Electronic ignition module in the distributor is bad. If either of these elements isn't present, your engine will struggle to function or even start. I can't remember the last time I encountered a "weak" pump on a GM tbi unit. Wehn I put it back on the water, same thing.. ran great.. then died... fuel injectors kept going.. got towed. It was *just* the pump, and I had to fit it into the assembly myself (inlcuding adapting the connector). I got a tow, and trailer it home till I had more time to deal with it. I do know that my oil pressure sender is little screw on the top goes in and out and the nut won't move...
TBI doesn't need referenced regulator since the nozzles are not in the manifold. As time progressed, manufacturers changed to fuel injection using the one injector per cylinder process, where fuel is injected into the lower intake manifold just behind the intake valve. I also had a problem with the loaner fuel tester - if I make the schrader valve finger tight, the valve is closed and the gauge is not getting any pressure.
